On Caseg fraith arête, I had placed the pad for my anticipated fall, avoiding the eye-catching block at the base. Once on the climb I found that I couldn’t reach my anticipated foothold and went for an intermediate instead. Unfortunately that position meant that when a foot popped unexpectedly I barndoored viciously and landed on the side of my foot, over the edge of the mat, twisting sharply. I had fought to try to land on my feet and ended up in an unnatural position. I felt a sharp pop as I landed and immediately felt intense nauseating pain. I managed to hobble back to the car and it subsequently turned out to be just a bad sprain rather than a break.
