Date, time: 02 May 2026.
As regards a person not a work: SB, status: customer, acute traumatic injury: uncontrolled fall resulting in ground impact. Age: 26.
Place where the incident occurred/Location: Gower.
Brief description of circumstances: SB was trad climbing, nearing the top of the route at around approximately around 25meters. Near the top of the climb, SB fell, and at least 3 pieces of trad gear (placed approximately 2-3meters apart with some run out sections) came out of the wall. SB had an uncontrolled fall and hit the ground, a fall of around 25meters in total. SB’s belayer, responded immediately, and noted that SB was lying on their back, appeared unconscious, lips were blue, heart rate at approximately 60 bpm, and breathing shallowly. Belayer called the coast guard and emergency services responded within 10-20 minutes, and gave stabilizing care. SB was stabilized before being transported to Cardiff hospital.
