We had been sport climbing all day (up to 6c+/7a)and I foolishly decided to do a trad route to finish off. The route is not well climbed / well known but looked good from the bottom; it recorded as E1 5b. Re-reading the description, it is pretty clear that I went the wrong way but I had gear in on double ropes. Tried to route find but I was on new ground. Tried to move up but fell off (was a couple of metres right of my top piece).
Two bits of gear popped and my belayer only just stopped me decking out - only my palm hitting the ground. I seem to have got away with a minor wrist sprain (actually climbed an easy sport route afterwards). My mate probably saved me from death or serious injury.
Don't mix sport and trad on the same day - even on an 'easy' trad route your head just isn't in it and the requirements are just too different.
Trad rock climbing
Slip, trip or fall, Route Selection, Two pieces of gear pulled out. Rarely / never climbed route. Unclear route (to me).
