Incident

I booked tickets for a hike and the hiking group, known as the muslim hikers were supposed to take us to the Loughrigg Fell route. The weather conditions were hazardous. The snow was very deep and the organisers did not 1) Prepare the attendees for snow condition hikes 2) They did not get attendees to complete medical consent forms. As a transplant patient this is crucial because I have ongoing medical care supporting me. We did not see the full train because we were told the weather was too dangerous. I slipped many times and landed on all fours. The group should have prepped us on adequate equipment/clothing that would be suitable in thick snow. The weather conditions were very dangerous, and the hike should have been cancelled. It was advertised as beginner friendly/intermediate, however you needed to be advance to manage a hike like that. We had to walk through streams of water and at some point I thought I was going to catch hypothermia.

Lessons

- The muslim hiking group should make it mandatory to complete health assesment/forms
- The group should have better prepared the attendees on weather changes and told us the correct equipment to carry such as snow boots for the hike
