Incident

Once of the two anchor maillons very rusty, hence very suspect. Cleaned anchor and descended on the single maillon conscious of potential single point of failure.

Descent safely accomplished.

Lessons

Regular checking of belay anchors at sports climbing venues and replacement of suspect equipment. Carry a spare (sacrificial) maillon to replace poor / rusted rings or maillons.
