Lessons

Principal lesson learned was that I attempted to call the wife of one of those fatally injured. Fortunately, there was an error in the number I had for the family. Because of this, i called the High Commission in Delhi, who put me through to the Foreign Office, where the person with whom I spoke was excellent. She arranged for the police to visit the widow and they stayed with her until the family were able to come round and comfort her. Much better than my calling blind - she did not really know me, when after the call, she would have been completely on her own.
