Incident
Climber had reached the end of the climb and was preparing to clip. Hold dislodged whilst they were reaching for quickdraw, pulling the climber off of the route and sent a significant amount of rock down towards belayer and an adjacent group. Warning shout was given and all parties were able to avoid the rock fall, however the rock landed on the coiled dead end of the adjacent parties rope, causing damage to both the sheath and internal core.
Lessons
Positioning of adjacent parties when others are climbing very steep routes in a potentially chossy area should be considered prior to them commencing climbing or setting up equipment ready to do so.
