Area

Climbing Wall

Route

Incident

Practising falling during a ropework course. We were told to push out off the wall before falling but I did this a little too enthusiastically. When my feet met the wall again 3 or 4 metres further down the force was such that I severely bruised both ankles and heals.

Lessons

Don't push off the wall with too much force. Possibly wear thick-soled shoes to absorb some of the impact (I was wearing thin-soled climbing shoes).
