Incident

Failed to clip and fell. Previous clip badly bolted directly under a bulge with slab below. Resulted in a pendulum swing into slab

Lessons

1) I did not commit to the move
2) I had not assessed the consequence of failing to make the move
3) The belayer failed to give a soft catch
4) I had not assessed the move and considered alternative options before trying it i.e. using a 'cheat stick', doing it on top rope, looking at hand and foot placements before trying it

Basically we were still novice and failed to understand how to approach such situations
