While working the route the climber took a number of falls on the crux, from about 1m above the bolt.

On the last fall the belayer did not give an effective soft catch, resulting in the leader swinging into the rock with enough force to injure her left foot.

Lessons

Take care to give a soft catch to avoid the leader swinging into the rock with dangerous force.
