Incident
Climbed Schiehallion, it was my first Munro and I only decided that morning that I was going to climb it. The ascent was easy and the path was fairly clear but whilst at the top clouds came over. I was disorientated and couldn’t remember the way I’d come up. I ended up scrambling down the boulder face with my dog. Neither of us equipped to do so. I had no idea if I was coming down the right side or not, I just wanted to be off the hill face. I had no phone signal, no compass and evidently no brain cells.
Lessons
I’ve since been on a navigation course. It helped improve my skills and my confidence on the hills but I definitely err more on the side of caution when it comes to the weather now
